Halloween in Northern Colorado 2026: Family-Friendly Events, Trick-or-Treating & Local Fun

There's something special about fall in Northern Colorado.

The changing leaves, crisp mornings, pumpkins on front porches, and neighborhoods getting ready for Halloween make this one of my favorite times of year.

And with Halloween falling on Saturday, October 31, 2026, it's a great opportunity to get outside, enjoy our local communities, and make some memories with family and friends.

Whether you live in Mead, Longmont, Fort Collins, or one of our surrounding Northern Colorado communities, there are some great local Halloween traditions worth checking out.

Here are three family-friendly events happening this Halloween weekend!

👻 1. Longmont Halloween Parade & Trick-or-Treat Street

If you're looking for a fun Halloween tradition, Longmont's annual Halloween Parade is a great way to spend your Saturday morning.

Families, friends, and even costumed dogs can join the parade through downtown Longmont.

Once the parade wraps up, the fun continues with Trick-or-Treat Street, where participating Main Street businesses hand out candy and treats.

What to expect:

• Costumes for kids and adults

• Trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses

• A chance to enjoy downtown Longmont with neighbors and friends

Jeff's Tip: Bring a wagon or stroller for younger kids and arrive a little early so you have plenty of time to get settled before the parade.

🍬 2. Mead Trick-or-Treat Street

📍 Main Street, Mead, CO

One of the things I appreciate about living in Mead is the small-town community atmosphere.

The Mead Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting Trick-or-Treat Street, bringing local businesses, organizations, and families together for an afternoon of Halloween fun.

Kids can dress up in their favorite costumes, collect treats, and enjoy a little hometown celebration.

• A great opportunity to support the Mead community

🎃 3. Tiny Tot Halloween in Downtown Fort Collins

🕙 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Downtown Fort Collins / Old Town Square

Have little ones who aren't quite ready for nighttime trick-or-treating?

Tiny Tot Halloween in Downtown Fort Collins is a fun daytime alternative designed especially for preschool and kindergarten-aged children.

Families can visit participating downtown businesses for candy, enjoy photo opportunities, and experience Halloween in a less spooky setting.

Nearly 100 businesses are participating in this year's event!

What families can enjoy:

• Daytime trick-or-treating

• Costumes and Halloween photo opportunities

• Treats from participating downtown businesses

• Free parking in designated city parking structures during the event

It's also a nice opportunity to spend a little time exploring Old Town Fort Collins.
